TROP JR ANNOUNCES 2010 WINNERS
First place is awarded to Peter Richardson & Josh Raish for ‘Every Coin Has Two Sides’.
Peter Richardson & Josh Raish from NSW were awarded first prize at Trop Jr 2010 today by a panel of celebrity judges for their film ‘Every Coin Has Two Sides’. On hearing they won, Peter exclaimed, “I’ve got the heeby jeeby’s”. “My heart is going 100miles/hr”Josh agreed.
When asked if they’d enter again in 2011, Peter replied “We’re a bit too old for Trop Jr now but we’ll definitely enter more competitions, perhaps Movie Extra Tropfest”.
The 14 finalists films wowed audiences across Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
The hosts from ABC3 entertained the enthusiastic crowd with a lively performance, showcasing the best of everything the channel has to offer.
The panel of 4 celebrity judges included; Nacho Pop (So You Think You Can Dance), Kat Risteske (So You Think You Can Dance), Gabriel Colomb (2009 Trop Jr Winner), Scotty Tweedie (ABC 3 Prank Patrol).
Festival Director John Polson on the winning film, “When I first watched this film I was blown away by the cinematography and couldn’t believe that it was made by a Trop Jr entrant. The crowd that attended today and the massive increase in entries are testament to the growing popularity of the Trop Jr program”.
The TSI for 2011 was announced as ‘FAN’.

About Trop Jr
TROP JR: The Worlds Largest Short Film Festival for Kids! By Kids! A recent addition to the Tropfest program is a short filmmaking competition open to kids aged 15 years and younger. 2008 was the first ever Trop Jr, 8 Finalists premiered their films to a live audience at the Crescent Precinct, across from Sydney’s Domain, before big Tropfest. The now annual short film competition is open anyone under 15 years of age – school and community groups are welcome also! 14 Finalists are selected from and compete for great prizes. Trop Jr films, like Tropfest films, are unique in that they have all been made specifically for Trop Jr, will premiere at Trop Jr and include the Trop Jr Signature Item (or TSI). The TSI for Trop Jr 2010 is “DOT”.

The Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) is committed to providing Australian children with entertaining media made especially for them, which makes an enduring contribution to their cultural and educational experience. We believe that children deserve interactive experiences that encourage them to engage with content, with each other and the world around them and we recognize that many children are accomplished creators of their own media. By presenting Trop Jr, the ACTF is providing children with a platform to showcase their creativity and talent, and to contribute their own stories “for kids, by kids”.

ABC3 is based on a premise that Australian children deserve access to better quality content that speaks with an Australian voice - their voice. So it is just that - distinctively Australian and commercial free and will engage children in a broad array of programming including drama, comedy, adventure, reality, action, music, news and current affairs, indigenous, sport, wildlife, gaming and documentary. ABC3 will reflect the lives of its audience wrapped around an entertainment experience, which will entertain, challenge and excite them. And ABC3 exists online as well as on-air. A customised portal will give children a place to explore content, games, blogs, videos and lots of user generated content – their content.
